Learning from pets
Psychic Pets: The Secret World of Animals. By Joseph Wylder. Dent, 1980. 150, pp. $19.50. (Reviewed by Doreen Mansbridge). Were humans once receptive to silent telephatic means of communication — a skill lost over the years as verbal language developed? Joseph Wylder believes we were and in his book “Psychic Pets” he documents amazing stories that he has learned while studying animals during the last 20 years. Animals, he believes, are still very much tuned in to these psychic waves. He also believes that once people acknowledge this perception in their pets they can learn to transmit silently to them through thoughts, and also receive messages from pets.
Joseph Wylder is the pseudonym for a research scientist at a large American pharmaceutical . His scientific approach lends some credence to the almost unbelievable tales he tells of animals travelling hundreds of miles, over unknown territory to find owners who have moved to a new address, of dogs solving complicated mathematical problems and inventing their own code of communication, and numerous instances of animals sensing impending danger. Mr Wylder believes .that a pet-owner relationship is wasted and a profound opportunity missed to learn about Ourselves and our world, from our pets, if we do not simply listen to them.
