Q.E.II pool

Sir, — I wholeheartedly agree with D. J. O’Rourke (Maj l ' 8) on the subject of closing Q.E. II pool through winter, the object being to save a few precious coppers. I have found that the heating could be moderated and still remain pleasant; which would help surely. I feel it would be more advantageous to close the pool in the summer months and open through the winter when it is impossible for people to enjoy their sport or recreation at other venues, as they are not blessed with the same facilities as Q.E. 11. Closing down must surely be a lastditch measure. The Christchurch City Council should think again and do something more constructive for all concerned.—Yours, etc., N. W. COX. May 8, 1980.
