Not to be outdone . . .
NZPA-Reuter Glasgow To Glasgow's football fans, always an insular body cf soccer supporters, the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden Park tomorrow morning (N.Z. time) surpasses anything World Cup and European Cup finals might have to offer. This is the big one. Any meeting of arch-rivals Rangers and Celtic is guaranteed to stir the emotions of Glasgow’s passionate soccer public. However, this eleventh Scottish Cup Final meeting of the clubs is no less important to the players themselves. Both failed in their European tour events this season and took back seats as Aberdeen and Dundee United won the league championship and League Cup respectively. The heading power of Derek Johnstone has made
Rangers narrow favourites with the bookmakers. As a 16-year-old he scored the only goal of the 1970 League Cup Final, rising above the Celtic defence to nod the ball into the net. Johnstone’s ability in the air will be even more troublesome to a Celtic back four missing the tall central defenders, Roddy McDonald and Tom . McDam, both oi whom have been suspended. Teams: Celtic (probable): Peter Latchford, Danny McGran, Alan Sneddon, Mike Conroy, Roy Aitken, Tommy Burns, Johnny Doyle. Dominic Sullivan, George McCluskey, Murdo MacLeod, Davie Provan. Rangers (probable): Peter McCoy, Sandy Jardine, Ally Dawson, Tom Forsuth, Colon Jackson, Gregor Stevens, Davie Cooper, Robert Russell, Derek Johnstone, Gordon Smith, John MacDonald.
