university Vacancies THE UNIVERSITY OF PAPUA NEW GUINEA (PORT MORESBY) LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN ANIMAL NUTRITION IN AGRICULTURE APPLICATIONS are invited for the position of Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer in Animal Nutrition in the Department of Agriculture. Applicants should have a good first deigree in Agriculture or Veterjinary Science, together with I post-graduate experience in i Animal Nutrition and BioI chemistry, preferably at the IPh.D. level. Preference will ;be given to applicants with ■University teaching and research experience in tropical i agriculture. : The appointee will be responsible for courses in Biochemistry and Animal Nutrition up'to Honours Degree level and may be required to (assist in other courses according to experience and interest. The appointee will be expected to supervise postgraduates and to pursue independent research. The appointee may also be asked to assist with animal production projects on the Departmental Farm and to undertake other relevant duties as may be assigned from time to time. Currently the Department of Agriculture is split be-; tween Port Moresby and Lae,; but the intention in the near: future, is to unify the Depart-, ment. In the first instance, the appointee will be located In Lae. i SALARY’: I Lecturer Grade I: K 12,810■ per annum plus gratuity. Lecturer Grade II: K 14,660 per annum plus grauity. I The successful applicant ■will be offered a contract for a three-year appointment. The gratuity entitlement is based on 24 per cent of sal■arv earned and is payable in ■instalments or lump sum and is taxed at a flat rate of 2 .per cent.
