New flat water rate
PA Auckland A flat water rate of $45 for residential ratepayers, and a general rate 20 per cent higher for non-resi-dential ratepayers, are the main changes in the rating base decided upon by the Auckland City Council. The decision to make changes to the rating formula came at a special council meeting. Instead of charging for water by a water rate based on the assessed annual value of a property, more than 48,000: ratepayers will pay a uniform $45 annual .charge. All non-residential properties will pay a general rate 20 per cent higher than the residential rate when the rates are struck.
