Foster-care seminar
A foster-care seminar will be held at Te Rangimarie Centre, Gloucester Street, from May 11 to 13. The seminar in Christchurch will be one of several organised throughout New Zealand by the Foster Care Federation. The guest speaker at the Christchurch seminar will be Dr Robert L. Geiser, a child psychologist, from Massachusetts in the United States. Dr Geiser is a noted authority in the field of child care, and has written articles and books c- the subject
The seminar is designed to allow him to share his experience and make practical suggestions about foster care in New Zealand. Participants will have plenty of time to talk with him informally about child-welfare work. The aims of the New Zealand Foster Care Federation include promoting the welfare of children in substitute care, encouraging the development of foster-care service, and improving public awareness of the needs of foster care.
