Home chemical spill
A Christchurch man was taken to hospital when it was feared he had inhaled fumes from a chemical spillage in a private garage yesterday. Firemen were called to a house in School Road shortly before 1 p.m. to attend a spillage of oxalyl chloride in a garage. A small container of the chemical was found to be leaking and firemen, wearing protective clothing and breathing apparatus, removed the container to the Paparua tip, where it was disposed of. A man was admitted to Christchurch Hospital for observation.
