Dramatic round of soccer

Twenty-three goals were scored in a dramatic ninth round of Rothmans Soccer League matches yesterday.

Manurewa lost a 2-0 halftime lead in its drawn game against Stop Out at Auckland, but still moved to the top of the points table. Alistair Elder scored his sixth goal of the season for Manurewa.

This leaves him two goals behind the league’s top scorer, Mike Glubb, who picked up one of Trans Tours United’s goals at Gisborne to take his tally to eight. . Dunedin City thrashed Blockhouse Bay in Dunedin and Blockhouse, with eight losses from nine matches, looks a • good relegation prospect with less than half the competition completed. Wellington Diamond United snatched a point from Mount Wellington with a goal 15 seconds from time at Wellington. Earlier, the Mount had taken the lead with two goals in two minutes, from Brian Turner and Warren Fleet. Hanimex-North Shore’s 1-0 win over the struggling Newmans Nelson United was
