Prefer- . ence will be given to candidates with experience in preparing secondary level teachers. if appointment is made at Senior Lecturer level, appointee will be responsible for coordinating the Diploma in Education—Home Economics programme. If appointment is made at Lecturer level, appointee will work as part of a team of three lecturers responsible for teaching all Home Economics courses within the programme: Heme Management. Clothing and Textiles, Foods and Nutritions, curriculum studies and methods of teaching Home Economics in secondary schools. He/she must be qualified to teach one or more of the above subjects plus being qualified to teach Child Growth and Development, including Child Care. Appointee will.be expected to be able to develop degree level courses in area(s) of specialisation; and will share responsibility for supervising Home Economics students during their school expert ence. At present this is 27, 21 and 13 students respectively, in Year I, II and 111. Appointee will be expected to assist in tutoring in other education subject area (e.g. psychology courses) taken by Home Economics students. CHIEF TECHNICIAN IN CHEMISTRY — (Past 80/28) The successful candidate will be responsible for all non-academic areas of the Chemistry Discipline, which includes the supervision and training of Technical staff, the preparation and running of teaching laboratories at Preliminary Foundation, Diploma and Degree Levels, in all areas of Chemistry, as well as assisting in research. This work will be done in accordance with the needs of the Chemistry Staff but under the overall control of the Laboratory Manager. Duties will also include tli e ordering and stock-keeping of equipment, chemicals and glassware: the maintenance, repair and construction of teaching and research, apparatus and various ancilliary duties. Applicants should possess the Cit v and Guilds, Full Science Laboratory Technology Certificate, Higher National Certificate or recognised equivalent and have had at least five years in a senior position, preferably in an un-der-graduate teaching laboratory. Preference will be given to candidates who have proficiency in instrumentation, electronics, or vacuum technique and a working knowledge of glass blowing would be an advantage. LECTURER (PRELIMINARY) IN CHEMISTRY — (Post 80/29) This post Is available from July 1, 1980 or as soon as possible thereafter. A B.Sc. degree with Chemistry major(s), successful teaching experience and/or teaching qualifications are the minimum requirements. The appointee may. be expected to teach Chemistry courses in the Preliminary, Foundation, Diploma, Extension anj possibly Degree programmes as assigned by the Head of Chemistry. Research and development work in the fields of Chemistry Or chemical education Is encouraged within the limits imposed -by teaching commitments. ■ . Salary in accordance with qualifications and experience in one of the following 1 scales: Senior Lecturer: $F12,275 — $14,450. Lecturer: 5F8490—11,878. Lecturer (Preliminary): $F6260—11,873. Chief Technician: SF9lO6— 11,878. In addition the University provides gratuity amounting to 15 per cent of basic salary, superannuation contribution, appointment allowance, partly furnished accommodation at a maximum rental at present of 12J per cent of salary.
