Fees for jockeys at trials?
PA " ‘ Wellington Regulations for qualifying trials will come into force after the next annual meeting of the Racing Conference if the intentions of the executive follow the normal patern. The executive intends to sponsor a re..iit for the July meeting whereby it will have the power to prescribe regulations governing qualifying trials which will apply on a national basis. One of the proposals relates to the payment of a riding fee to jockeys and to apprentices. An ad hoc committee comprising representatives from the executive and other racing organisations has had meetings at which conditions relating to the conduct of qualifying trials have been formulated.
These proposals have been adopted in principle by the executive committee and have been referred to the conference solicitors to be drafted into regulation form.
