Sociology award of $1000
PA Wellington The Sociological Association of Australia and New Zealand (S.A.A.N.Z.), in conjunction with the publisher, George Allen and Unwin, has announced the establishment of the Jean Marton Award of $lOOO. The award will be granted to the best M. A. or Ph.D thesis in social theorj' or research submitted to an Australian or New Zealand tertiary institution during 1978-1979, the S.A.A.N.Z. vice-presi-dent (Ms Penny Fenwick) has said. Nominations have been sought from all university social science departments. Ms Fenwick said that the award had been established in honour of Jean Martin, an Australian sociologist “S.A.A.N.Z. intends to announce the first recipient at its 1980 annual conference in Hobart in August,” Ms Fenwick said.
