THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL UNIVERSITY Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for appointment to the following’positions: RESEARCH SCHOOL OF PHYSICAL SCIENCES POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWS The School proposes to appoint up to five Postdoctoral Fellows in open competition to commence duty during 1981. Appointments will be for two years and may be in any field of research of interest to departments/units of the School. The School consists of the Departments of Applied Mathematics, Engineering Physics, Mathematics, Nuclear Physics, Solid State Physics and Theoretical Physics, together with the Mount Stromlo and Siding Spring Observatories, the Plasma Research Laboratory and Diffusion Research, Electron and lon Diffusion and Ultraviolet Physics Units. Applicants should hold, or expect to complete during 1980, a PhD degree or equivalent qualification and normally be under 30 years of age at the time of application. CLOSING DATE: 15 JUNE, 1980. DIFFUSION RESEARCH UNIT RESEARCH FELLOW IN EXPERIMENTAL LIQUID DIFFUSION STUDIES The successful applicant will work in the Diffusion Research Unit in the cryogenic diffusion field and/or in large particle diffusion studies. FACULTY OF SCIENCE DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY LECTURER IN FOREST ECONOMICS : The appointee will be primarily responsible for ' undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Forest . Economics and will be required to carry out and supervise research in that field. Research experience in forestry and/or forest industries is highly desirable but suitable applicants without this experience will be considered. CLOSING DATE: 24 MAY, 1980. Conditions of Appointment: Salary on appointment will be in accordance with qualifications and experience within the range: Research Fellow — $17,024-$22,222; Postdoctoral Fellow: a fixed point between $17,024-$22,222; Lecturer $17,024-$22, 364 per annum Australian currency. Appointment as Research Fellow is for two or three years with possible extension to five years. Applications from those able to obtain leave of absence without pay from their , own institutions will be welcomed. Postdoctoral Fellows in the Research School of Physical Sciences will be appointed for two years. Lecturers are appointed for four years in the first instance with the possibility of reappointment after review to retiring age. Reasonable appointment expenses are paid.
