OTAGO HOSPITAL BOARD Waikari Hospital ASSESSMENT AND REHABILITATION UNIT THE Assessment and Rehabilitation Unit is a new purpose-built complex attached to Wakari Hospital. The Unit will deal with the assessment, acute management and rehabilitation of elderly patients referred from Dunedin and the surrounding areas. When fully commissioned it will have 40 inpatient beds (to be run as two wards) and 20 place day ward for general elderly patients, and a 20 place psycho-geriatric day ward. It is also hoped that the unit -will eventually link with psycho-geriatric in-patient facilities. In the Unit, 20 in-patient beds are currently in use, and there are five psycho-geriatric day places filled. The initial development will consist of 10 day hospital places and six further inpatient beds, both for general elderly patients. The following staff are required for this development: Nursing Staff 1. NURSING SUPERVISOR: D.G. 21 Grade II Salary $12,327-$12,717. Duties: Main responsibility for administration and supervision of nursing services of whole unit with some share in nursing administration of Hospital. Qualifications: Registered Comprehensive Nurse, though R.G. and O.N. and R.G.N. with appropriate interest and experience should apply, especially if this includes some psychiatric nursing. Diploma of Nursing or other relevant post basic qualification most desirable. 2. STAFF NURSES, ENROLLED NURSES: Full time and part-time position for in-patient and day-patient areas. Salary: D.G. 41.
