Applicants should preferably be under 45 years of age and the minimum qualification is a Diploma in Agriculture or Horticulture. Duties involve a wide range of work in agricultural, horticultural and agricultural engineering fields. This position is predominantly concerned with soil sampling and fertiliser recommendations. Commencing salary is dependent on qualifications and experience. A system of accelerated salary increments is payable on good performance, and advancement to higher grades is available on merit. Some appointment expenses may be payable to a married person required to shift household to take up an appointment.
