The reserve is 245 hectares situated at the northern entrance to Lyttelton Harbour with outstanding scenic, recreational and historical values. The area will be farmed in conjunction with other activities and educational and interpretive programmes will be developed. A management plan identifies objectives and policies and guides future administration and development for the reserve.
