Donaghys expands in Christchurch
Donaghys Industries, Ltd,,; the Dunedin-based rope, bag,'l and specialty food manufac-|i turer will be opening new i premises in Christ- I church later this month. vear it was announced that; .Donaghys had acquired ai Imajor property in Pages; Road, formerly owned by i Millers, Ltd. These premises in their' refurbished condition will be officially opened by the Prime Minister at a special function to be held on the site on April 30 at 3.45 p.m. This plant will initially employ 120 people, and the Isite provides scope for future expansion plans. Donaghys Industries, Ltd, is a New Zealand-owned public company, whose manufacturing and com-, I mercial activities include
rope and cordage products, industrial textiles, processed gourmet foods, and coolstore i operations. , The group has six locations throughout the country and employs about 600 people. In Christchurch the two companies are active in plastic tape extrusion, cloth weaving, and the subsequent manufacture of industrial cloth products, e.g., fertiliser bags, salt bags, hay bale covers, pelt caps for the freezing industry and windbreak cloth for horticulturists.
