Farm invention entries
The New Zealand Farmer Fencing Inventions Contest for the South Is-
land has already attracted a number of entries from farmers, and fencing con-
tractors but there is still time to enter your own design — the competition does not close until the morning of Tuesday, April 22. “The Farmer” is sponsoring the South Island contest to be run in conjunction with “Fencing for the 1980 s” two-day display at Lincoln. There is no entry fee and the contest is open to farmers, fencing contractors and interested amateurs but not to companies' or manufacturers. The prize money totals $250. Of this, $2OO will be divided equally among those entrants whose inventions reach the standard set by the ‘judges. The remaining $5O is a special prize for the best method using existing equipment. The contest is solely for ideas, gadgets and machinery for use in fencing. The inventions can deal with any type of fencing from temporary permanent, electric, non-elec-tric to any aspect of the job from timber treatment through to wire straining and post driving to spacing battens and insulators. Anyone wishing to enter should apply to the organisers of “Fencing for the 1980 s.”.
