Thousands want to leave Timor
NZPA-Reuter Jakarta Indonesia has asked the Netherlands to help in trying to arrange the emigration of 3000 families from East Timor to Portugal, the Foreign Minister (Mr Mochtar Kusumaatmaja) has said in Jakarta. : East Timor was abandoned by its Portuguese colonial rulers .five years ago and incorporated into Indonesia in July, 1976, after the defeat of the Left-wing Fretilin independence movement by pro-merger militia and Indonesian soldiers.
