Miss Inkster to return for trial

The former Canterbury and New Zealand age-group champion, Rochelle Inkster, will return to New Zealand for the final Olympic swimming trial on May 18. Miss Inkster, the daughter of the former Christchurch coach, Don Inkster, now lives in Sydney. She will return on May 5 to prepare for the final Olympic trial at Queen Elizabeth II Park on May 18. Mr Inkster will join his daughter on May 13. Because Miss Inkster, a talented young freestyle sprinter, did not enter the New Zealand championships at Dunedin last month, and nothing had been heard about her performances in Australia during the summer, it was assumed that she was out of contention for the

Olympic team. However, this week the • New Zealand Amateur: Swimming Association received notification that she would attend the training camp before the final triaL also at Queen Elizabeth II Park. Miss Inkster is the third New Zealander at present overseas who has stated an intention to return for the trial, and a fourth, Nicolas Harriman, at university im Houston, is also expected to return. Paul Rowe, who is training in Canberra, said several months ago .that he would return for the final trial if he failed to reach a qualifying target at the New Zealand championships last month.
