MANY AMERICANS
There will be a strong contingent of American Angus breeders at - next year’s World Angus Forum. About 800 are expected at the forum, which is being organised by the New Zealand Angus Association and which will be held in the Christchurch Town Hall from March 24 to 28, and at least 200 of these will be from the United States. The director of public relations for the American Angus Association (Mr K. T. Evans), was in Christchurch recently meeting forum organisers and discussing next year’s programme with them. Mr Evans said he was
very impressed with the amount of work being done by the New Zealand Angus Association and was confident the forum would be a success. Breeders from overseas came to the Angus forums looking for an opportunity to exchange ideas on the breed and its future and “I’m sure all the opportunities will be there,” he said.
Topics likely to come up included type determination, genetical problems, use of recording facilities, and the possibility of a world-wide sire evaluation scheme which could facilitate the sale of semen and transplanted ovas between breeders, Mr Evans said.
