Swede sets record for 100m butterfly
NZPA Austin Texas i • 5 Par Aryidsson, of Sweden, ; has set a new world record 2 for the 100 metre butterfly at the United States indoor 1 swimming championships. 1 Swimming in the last quali- 1 tying heat of the day, Arvid- 1 sson qualified for the finals 1
with 54.15 s breaking the previous record of 54.18 set by an American, Joe Bottom, in August 1977. Arvidsson won the 100 and 200-yard butterflies at the National Collegiate meet last month, but he finished only third in the 200 tn butterfly at Austin.
