‘Kaleidoscope’ dance
Angela D’Audney once again introduces “Kaleidoscope” on TV2 tonight, the
programme featuring the first in a six-part series where Dame Margot Fonteyn presents her personal view of the history and evolution of the dance, complete with performance extracts. “The Magic of the Dance” surveys the changes that have taken part in the span of Dame Margot’s own danc-
*|ing career, with the shift ; from the emphasis being on i the ballerina to the emerr gence of the male ballet star i of the 19705. i Rudolf Nureyev and Fonteyn perform the Pas de 1 Deux from “Corsair” in : this episode, along with other notable ballet and • dance performances — in-
cluding tap dancing demonstrated by Sammy Davis. “Kaleidoscope” also looks at current trends in New Zealand sculpture, focusing on the Hansells Sculpture Exhibition of 1980, where more than 20 artists are currently exhibiting, by invitation, at Masterton.
