Old wireless as TV show
( The TVI new musical entertainment series - on ■Saturday nights, “Radio Times”, is written by Derek Payne. It is based on the studio recording of a musical programme in the 1930 s for wireless. A New Zealand variety team gives the treatment to the most popular tunes of the day. The Auckland cabaret singer, Billy • T. James, .plays the role of Dexter Fitzgibbons, the host of “Radio Times.” The singer, Alita, plays Bunny Le.vaux; Laurie Dee plays
the singing cowboy, Tommy Blackhouse; Craig Scott is the matinee idol. Guy Bosar.quet; and the Yandall Sisters provide the background harmonies as the “Hi Spots.”
Derek Payne, lan Watkin and Alistair Douglas are the “Radio Times” players, presenting short episodes from three continuing dramas. The musical accompaniment is by the "Southern- Hernia spheres greatest dance band,” The Radio Times Orchestra.
