Help for refugees

The Save the Children Fund will look after the health and welfare of refugee children in camps on the Afghanistan border. It will help in three border camps which shelter about 13,000 refugees. The New Zealand vicepresident of S.C.F. (Mrs B. Pearson) said that the estimated cost of the project was $69,000, much of which would come from New Zealand.

Until the Russian invasion, the North Canterbury branch of the society supported a doctor in Afghanistan. The money raised for his salary would now go towards looking after the refugees.
