New club awards
Final details of the New Zealand Council for Recreai tion and Sport’s new national :"club of the year” award .were approved at the council’s first meeting for 1980. Sponsored by Black and Decker, Ltd, the regional and national awards will be made to hobby, sporting, cultural and other recreational clubs, which are all eligible to apply. At the meeting, the council appointed administrators for 16 regional • committees ‘.throughout the country. They Avill select regional award winners for their club spirit ;
and effectiveness. These clubs will then be eligible for the national award. The chairman of the council, Mr Lance Cross, commended Black and Decker, Ltd, for joining with the council to sponsor the awards. New Zealand has many clubs of all kinds, said Mr Cross. The award is designed to give incentive and encouragement to the committee workers who provide a good service to their members and to highlight the really effective clubs as examples of what can be achieved.
