Dealing with head lice
Sir, — I was astounded to read Dr M. A. Brieseman’s advice (“The Press,” March 29) that “children with head lice need not be kept at home until their heads are treated.” His advice that the children should just be warned not to rub heads in playground games is (to anyone associated with small children) an unrealistic demand. Rough and tumble games such as rugby are a normal part of any child’s life and will not cease because of some adult direction. It seems to me irresponsible to allow children to go to school with untreated head lice as it must aggravate a growing problem in our primary schools. —- Yours, etc., J. G. FREEMAN. March 31, 1980.
