Bowls format changed
The unexpectedly large number of qualifiers in the Christchurch pre-Easter fours bowls tournament has presented some problems. The total of 76 makes it impossible to complete the event this week-end under the stated conditions. The centre match committee has, therefore, decided to change the conditions. “It was a step we took reluctantly, but there were few alternatives so late in the season,” said the chairman, Mr D. Martin.
There will now he four, instead of three, rounds on Saturday with the time limit reduced from two hours and a half to two hours. Tha teams with byes through the first round will begin at 9 a.m. and be a ro’und ahead of the others. It has also been necessary to bring in extra greens and Papanui and Linwood will be used in addition to Woolston W.M.C. The post-section •draw appears in today's sporting fixtures column.
