Big bowls victory
The Riccarton Racecourse team of Marjorie McGirr, Eadie Crawford and Phyllis Macdoanld (s) made every post a winner as it raced away to take the Christchurch women’s bowls champion - of - champions triples title yesterday. In the final, Riccarton Racecourse, met Halswell, which was represented by Pauline Wyllie, Emma Boland and Margory Hoyle (s). However, - the outcome was apparent from an early stage. Mrs Macdonald took an early lead and returns- of a four, a five, a six and a
seven put her away beyond reach. Mrs Hoyle finally conceded afte the nineteenth end, with the score against her. 32-13.
The Riccarton Racecourse entry had command in each position. ■ Mrs Macdonald playing especially well.
The semi-finals were better games. In 'one, Mrs Hoyle scored seven points on the nineteenth and twentieth ends to beat Violet Young (Shirley), 24-22, and in the other Mrs Macdonald, after gaining a big early lead, held on to beat Kathleen Crampton (Cheviot), 2817.
