Second attempt

The Canterbury 800 m champion, Andrew Stark (University), will make a second attempt on- the provincial 1500 m record during the New Zealand veteran track and field championships at Queen Elizabeth- II Park on Saturday.

A fortnight ago, Stark’s special record attempt was ruined by wind and rain. But his time of 4min 43.6 s was good enough to encourage him to try. again. The time Stark is aiming to heat’is the very fast 3min 41.75, held by Rod Dixom To do this he will have to run considerably faster than he has ever done before. His best time is 3min 435.

The attempt is timed for 12.10 p.m.
