Solar energy plan

PA Wellington The Solar Equipment Manufacturers’ Association is preparing a solar energy plan for New Zealand by inviting suggestions from interested parties, the president of the association (Mr L. H. Chapman) has said.

“Solar energy is recognised in many overseas countries as the energy source which offers the most in over-all performance. with the least disadvantages. It is the only source that can be con-

fidently relied on for long term energy independence.” Mr Chapman said. A solar energy plan was' new to New Zealand, but internationally many other countries had developed these plans through governmental actions. For instance. Australia had both federal grants and indus-

trial assistance. Mr Chapman said. All comments would be carefully considered by the association and incorporated into the final plan. Submissions close at the end of April.
