Chain-saw record?

PA Nelson A world record may have been set at Wakefield on Saturday when an experienced chain sawyer, Colin Robinson, of Nelson, reduced his New Zealand open record for three cuts of a 300 mm pine log from 9.7 s to 7.85. He set the previous record for the rolling start (saw on the ground, engine running), last November at the Nelson Agricultural and Pastoral Show.

Robinson was wielding the same Wilson special modified saw he used in November, built by a chainsaw mechanic, Mr Colin Wilson, of Nelson.

In early May, Robinson will go to Australia to pit his skill against Australia’s best. Meanwhile he plans to seek recognition of his time in the “Guinness Book of Records.”
