Complaints on play
The Christchurch police have received complaints about the stage show, “The Further Confessions of a Window Cleaner,” before it has played in the city. Several persons had telephoned the Central Police Station to complain about alleged indecencies in the comedy show, which was scheduled to start an eight-day run at the Theatre Royal tomor-
row evening, said a police spokesman yesterday. • Others have written letters to the commander of the Christchurch police district (Deputy Assistant Commissioner G. E. Twentyman). Mr Twentyman said yesterday that police officers had looked at the show in both Auckland and Wellington. “They did not consider ft it be indecent, but we
will re-examine the situation in the light of these complaints,” said Mr Twentyman. He said the police could hot take action about the show without the prior consent of the AttorneyGeneral (Mr McLay). “The Further Confessions of a Window Cleaner” is described in advertisements as “a howl of an evening” and “even naughtier than the films.”
