Bushranger caught
NZPA ■ Emerald, Central Queensland The Queensland police have arrested the younger of two young Queensland bushrangers who have been romanticised as the “Red Terrors.”
More than 50 police on horse-back and using four-wheel-drive vehicles had been searching for the pair who are brothers.
The pair, described by the police as "extremely dangerous and extremely clever” experienced bushmen, got their nickname from their distinctive red hair and beards and cowboy clothes. The police want the broth-, ers for questioning on more than 60 offences including! armed hold-up of gem buyers. The pair’s main; camp, which was discovered almost by mistake last week, contained $25,000 worth of stolen goods. The state police said yesterday that the two fugitive brothers might have been receiving help from young people impressed by their bushranger image.
