Vivian falls away

NZPA-AAP Perth The New South Wales professional, Chris Tickner, shrugged off challenges from New Zealander Barry Vivian and local competitors to gain his first 72-hole tournament victory in the Royal Fremantle Open on Sunday. Vivian was fourth, but Terry Kendall of New Zealand finished well down the field with an aggregate of 308.

Tickner started the final round as joint leader with Vivian, both players being one under the card. Vivian started well w r ith a birdie at the first, but saw his tournament hopes dashed with double bogeys on the next two holes. He was never able to recover from this, and finished with a total of 292, five strokes behind Tickner.
