Editor of ‘Listener’ resigns

PA Wellington The editor of the “Listener” (Mr Tony Reid) has informed the Broadcasting Corporation that he wishes to relinquish his post and concentrate on his own writing in the future. Announcing this yesterday, the chairman of the Broadcasting Corporation (Mr lan Cross) said Mr Reid had indicated that while he had enjoyed the creative aspects of editorship he had been frustrated by the lack of time to write bcause of the broad responsibilities of his post. The corporation .will advertise for a new editor within New Zealand and overseas.

Mr Reid said he had made the decision with regret and only after considerable

thought. “I originally hoped to follow American magazine models and work as an editor who also wrote articles,” he said. “But the considerable administrative and other general tasks of ‘Listener’ editorship . make this virtually impossible.”
