The number of registered unemployed rose to 28,841 in the two weeks to March 14, the Minister of Labour (Mr Bolger) said.
This was an increase oi 254.
In spite of the over-all increase, the number of schoolleavers registered as unemployed was down 574. Figures for “The Press,” ckrculation area are:— (Figures for February 29 in brackets): — Blenheim, 332 (334); Nelson, 500 (552); Greymouth, 249 (263); Christchurch, 3636 (3574); Timaru, 364 (348).
