Gangs fight battle
PA Auckland Rival gangs armed with softball bats, iron bars, and sickles fought a roadside battle at Papatoetoe late on Saturday evening. Several suffered injuries in the brawl.
The police arrested Six men on charges arising from the incident. They will appear in the Magistrate’s Court at Otahuhu today.
“One man suffered a broken jaw, another a broken nose, and others head injuries,” a police spokesman said. The confrontation involving about 30 gang members flared about 11 p.m. Traffic officers had to block the Great South Road for 200 m while the police tried to stop the brawl.
