Referees nominated

Six Canterbury rugby league referees have been nominated for international or interprovincial appointments in the coming season.

The province’s two top-rated referees, Messrs Don Wilson and Bill Menzies, will be considered in both categories. The other nominees, Messrs Tonv Drake, Ken Blackler, Jim Baughan, and Paul Skerten, will be eligible for inter-provincial fixtures. Officers elected at the annual meeting of the referees’ association were:—

President, Mr W. A. McKenzie; chairman, Mr W. J. Menzies; deputy chairman, Mr T. Drake; secretary, Mr J. Baughan; t.easurer, Mr N* E. Taylor; board representatives, Messrs A. D. Wilson (senior), M. Kinnaird (schoolboys); executive members, Messrs R. J. A. MacKenzie, P. G. Skerten.
