Tour shows good profit
in spite of the weather affecting play on the allimportant week-end, the gate takings at Eden Park, Auckland, have ensured a good profit from the New Zealand tour by the West Indies cricketers. The gate at Auckland amounted to $Bl,OOO
which brought the total takings for the tour to $295,000 and a profit of $95,000. The West Indies will receive about $32,000 which will leave a healthy profit for the New Zealand Cricket Council which will benefit by a further
$50,000 through television rights and sponsorship. Auckland’s gate takings far exceeded the test gates at Dunedin and Christchurch. The official figure from Carisbrook was $55,444 while the unofficial takings from Lancaster Park were $54,346.
