Contest dominated by three bands
The City of Invercargill, Ashburton, and Methven pipe bands dominated the Canterbury provincial pipe band championships held in Ashburton.
Each band won its grade. While Methven was hard-pressed by Metropolitan Ladies’ of Christchurch in the selection and street march in grade four. It won the quickstep by 10 points, which put it well clear oh aggregate.
Ashburton and the City of Invercargill bands were, ahead of their opposition- in grades two and one respectively. For both it was a good test for the New Zealand championships to be held in Hamilton later this month. Results:—
