“Children and Music” is a book just out in paperback by Atarah BenTovim, who gave up her career as principal flautist in a British orchestra to concentrate, with her husband, on bringing music to children. She explains on “8.8. C. World of Books” on Concert radio tonight why she thinks there are such educative possibilities for a child in learning to play an instrument and why it is vital to find the right instrument for a child. The life of Alexandre Dumas, creator of “The Three Musketeers” was often as exciting as his novels and plays.
“The King of Romance,' 8 a new biography by Professor F. W. J. Hemmings, shows that even Dumas’s ancestry was a romantic mixture of the French aristocracy and a slave girl imported to Haiti. On the programme Professor Hemmings talks about the attitudes of Dumas to his works, his many love affairs and his success abroad as well as in France. Philip Snow spent manyyears as an administrator in the Pacific. Now with his daughter Stefanie Waine, he has produced a book on European visitors to the area entitled “The People of the Horizon.”
