Two men on charge of murder
Two men jointly charged with the murder of an Addington barber on Thursday evening were each remanded in custody to February 29 when they appeared before Mr K. W. Frampton, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. They are Warren James Corkin. aged 23, and Raymond Bretnner Fryer, aged
29, both unemployed, who are charged wi_j the murder of George Frankley Carrodus, aged 55. At the request of Sergeant M. P. Caldwell,, the remand to Addington Prison was for interim psychiatric reports to be obtained on both men. The two accused are also jointly charged with unlawfully taking a $3500 car, the property of Mr Carrodus.
Both accused appeared in the dock handcuffed and with a strong police escort. ■ No pleas were entered, and neither man was represented by counsel. The . charges relate to the finding of the body of Mr Carrodus in a Lincoln Road shop on Thursday evening and a high-speed chase from Christchurch to the Rakaia River bridge.
