S.P.C.A. expulsion

Two Christchurch women, who are contesting their expulsion from the S.P.C.A., were expelled from the society for making statements last November about the sending of animals to 1.C.1. Tasman, and not about the company’s treatment of the animals, as was said in “The Press” yesterday. Mrs Betty Trigwell, one of the expelled women, said yesterday that her concern had been about the lack of council approval for the member who had sent animals to 1.C.1. It was the policy of the Canterbury branch now not to send animals to laboratories, Mrs Trigwefi said. She said that she would be the first. to acknowledge the benefit of 1.C.1.’s work.
