Credit union’s membership up
New Zealand’s credit union membership has increased in the last decade from 11,611 to 95,120, and savings have increased! from $1.2 million to $26 million. -These, figures were released by The. president of the New Zealand Credit Union League (Mr M. . Clare) at the league’s annual meeting, in Hamilton during the week-end. Mr Clare has stood down as president, but will continue as vice-president. The manager of the Nelson Catholic Credit Union (Mr D. McCleary) has been elected in his place, and another South Islander Mr N. Balloch of the A.H.I. (Hornby) Credit Union, , has been elected ‘ to' the national executive.
The Credit Union Mutual Insurance Society (NZ) Ltd_. now covers 94 of the 245 credit unions in the country, and? had.- assets of. ; $17,6. millibhr said -the league’s managing director ' (Mr ’ Cl Smith). The society had completed its first year without a claim.
