Clark also completed the run in good form and so did three of her five children. Conditions for the run were ideal.
Proceeds will help send the Canterbury under 15 soccer squad to Toronto to represent New Zealand in the Junior World Cup tournament. ...
Members of the Vintage Moto r-cycle Association acted as spotters for runners needing assistance or a lift, but none did. i The organiser, Mr Bernie Quinn,'said he was delighted with the attendance and thanked all organisations including staff at English Park and Queen Elizabeth II Park'.'who contributed to making the event a success.
The president of the C.J.F.A., Mr Alan Fraser, presented / certificates to those completing the course and the actor, Norman Bowler,'was at the finish to give autographs. While there were fewer than the. usual number of regular athletes in the “Fresh Up” run there was a strong representation of club runners in the Lyttelton to Diamond Harbour event organised by the : Long Distance Runners Club of New Zealand.
The run began from the Lyttelton police station at 9 a.m. in ideal conditions. About 60 men and women completed the approximately 30 km journey. /. >,■ ■.
