Blue Sage appeals at Riccarton tomorrow

BOYLE Blue Sage was the “bridesmaid” of the middledistance handicaps at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s summer meeting but should play the principle role in the' Riccarton Turf Club’s Polynesian Handicap tomorrow. Her two starts at the C.J.C. meeting produced a second in the Midsummer Handicap and a third in the Lion Breweries Handicap, those ■ races won by Her Greatest. In each race Blue Sage was Canterbury’s best and without southern opposition tomorrow her chance of winning at the same distance of 2000 m-looks bright. Blue Sage will be ridden tomorrow by Wayne Hillis who is attached to the Williams’ stable. Another of Hillis’s mounts will be Blue Sage’s stablemate, His Advise, whose fair ability at 1200 m makes him one of the well-regarded runners in the Aggie Grey Handicap. The Greymouth-trained Dancer Boy must- be rated as one of Blue Sage’s stronger opponents tomorrow after a fourth in the Lion Breweries Handicap. Any easing in the ground should be accompanied by an improved performance by Ernest on anything he showed in the Midsummer Handicap. He was a winner over 2000 m at Omoto two starts back. Trebles will be run on races 1,2 and 3; 4,5, and 6; 7, 8 and 9; doubles will be run on races 2 and 3; 3 and 4; 3 and 6; 6 and 8; and 8 and 9, and there will be quinellas on all races.
