Australian group considers uranium enrichment
NZPA Canaberra A group of Australian companies has agreed to set up a joint venture to undertake a study on the possibility of establishing an Australian commercial uranium enrichment industry. The joint-venture, to be known as the Uranium Enrichment Group of Australia, comprises 8.H.P., CSR, Peko AVallsend, and Western Miniing Corporation.
The study was announced by Australia’s Deputy Prime ■ Minister and Trade and Re- . sources Minister (Mr Anthony), and National Development and Energy i Minister (Senator Carrick). In a statement issued in Canberra the ministers-, said : that the Federal Government ■ envisaged a major role for , industry in studying, and if i the venture proved feasible, ■ developing an enrichment industry in Australia.
