Selector should improve in Cup
Special corespondent Dunedin Selector’s close fourth in the Waikouaiti Cup gives him a good claim in the Kurow Cup at the Kurow Jockey Club’s meeting tomorrow. Selector came from the rear of the field to show up near the lead at the 200 m. Graeme Heaton, who rode him for the first time, felt he may have won had he known the horse and delayed his run longer. Heaton has the mount again. Ahi Ua has improved in each of her three starts this season and her fourth behind Grey Way, Tui’s Lass and Napiat in the Timaru Cup, over 1600 m at weight-for-age, is better form than many of her rivals tomorrow are likely to achieve. Sharebroker, El Nicky and Country Prince are a likely trio for the Munro Handicap, second leg of the T.A.B. double. Sharebroker finished third to Lejano and Flying View at Washdyke last Saturday. El Nicky, which is to start in this event in preference to the Kurow Cup, was twice placed over tomorow’s distance, (1400 m behind Scotch Mist at Greymouth in November. The Omarama-owned Country Prince turned in good efforts for fourth on each day of the South Can-, terbury meeting last month.
