Crop areas down
The picture is generally one of smaller areas in cereals this season. According to Ministry of Agriculture estimates the wheat area is down by 6.5 per cent at 83,510 ha, the oat area down by 6.4 per cent at 17.099 ha, the barley crop lower by 9.8 per cent at 80,926 ha and the maize ' area down by 16.4 per cent at 22,482 ha.
