The police used tear-gas to I break-up a clash between supporters of the regional j Muslim Majlis Party and of the national Janata Party in Karvan town in Andhra i Pradesh state. j Thirteen shops and an oil ’ mill were burned down, the i Press Trust of India reported. (Fifteen people were injured. 1 The election campaign has [ claimed three lives in 1 [ northern and north-eastern I India in the last three days. One person was killed and two others were injured in [clashes in West Bengal on Tuesday between followers of the Marxist Communist Party and Congress (Indira) Party of the former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi.
| On Monday, two Congress [(T> supporters were killed in (a gun battle with rival Elec-j I tion Campaigners in northern ' Uttar Pradesh state, the Press Trust of India has reported. The Delhi police have banned people from carrying even licensed weapons. Simii lar measures have been taken 1 in other parts of the country.
